EDTA in waste waters Print E-mail
Galvanisers frequently discharge ethylenediammine tetraacetic acit (EDTA) and its derivatives into waste waters. A system developed by ISTRAN enables a simple measurement of EDTA in laboratory as well as in process, e.g. in waste water treatment plants.

The on-line process analyser EcaMon completes a measurement within 5 min, launches an alarm signal if the measured concentration exceeds the threshold value. Automatic calibration, data archivation, analog and digital signal exchange for remote control are available. The average maintenance period is 2 to 4 weeks and includes the replacement of a disposable electrode, refilling of one reagent solution containing diluted sodium sulphate.

The system is being in charge in a microelectronics plant in Germany more than 5 years and is measuring EDTA concentrations in treated waste water in the concentration range of 1 to 1000 mg/l.
